IMPORTANT NOTICE – Updated March 16, 2020

We are writing to you today to provide an update on SOAR 2020 given the ongoing situation with COVID-19 cases being reported within the province and Canada. The health and safety of our racers and volunteers is of the utmost importance. As such, we are taking this opportunity to provide you with a status update regarding 2020 planning activities considering this unique situation we all find ourselves in.

We are committed to delivering a top-notch event for racers, an exciting opportunity for our volunteers and a fundraiser for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. However, given the current environment, planning for this type of event is becoming more challenging.  At this point we are not postponing the race, however we are monitoring the situation and consulting with relevant authorities to help us inform our decisions as this situation continues to evolve.

As you may be aware, SOAR is organized by a dedicated team of volunteer Race Directors. Due to the unique nature of the race, we have decided to reach out to Public Health Ontario and relevant Public Health Units for guidance. We will work in partnership with these public health authorities as we consider our next steps. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide you with additional updates as required.

We do advise all racers who are considering holding fundraising events to follow guidance from relevant health authorities. Some relevant links are provided below to help you make informed decisions related to any activities you may have been planning. Please explore the resources offered by these authorities. Should you have specific questions related to the health and safety of any event, please reach out to your local public health unit.
