SOAR is different than other community volunteering opportunities. As a Race Director you get to help plan, construct and run our race. Purpose

The Creative Directors work together as the Creative Team to create the challenges and plans all logistics of the race.

Responsibilities and Duties

Pre-Race

  • Move materials from storage and set up build space.
  • Plan overall race route.
  • Coordinate the research and selection of all race weekend locations.
  • As a team, plan all challenges from inception, to selection / building of challenge materials, creation and testing of challenge prototypes, assembly of challenge bins, location selection, and site visits.
  • Ensure challenge planning tools (maters challenge list and Trello) are kept up to date with your challenge details.
  • Act as Challenge Master to two or more challenges including: securing the locations, liaising with outside organizations supporting the challenge, creating all the challenge props, writing all challenge documentation and relaying insurance requirements to Administrative Director.
  • Visit all locations to identify any potential challenges with sites.
  • As a team, write and proofread all challenge materials including clues, Marshal Instructions, maps and other challenge materials.
  • Communicate your progress at Creative Team meetings including providing updates via email to the Administrative Director when you are unable to attend.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants and volunteers by completing a risk assessment and implementing a safety plan.
  • Plan overall weekend logistics including challenge timing, equipment required, (flags, tables etc.) and race weekend roles.

Post-Race

  • Clean up on Monday; if available.
  • Send thank you emails to all Challenge locations and suppliers.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent Organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong budget management skills
  • Strong technological skills including Microsoft Office
  • Must have own car.

Minimum Expectations or Commitment Requirements

  • Present entire Race Weekend (Friday – Sunday)
  • Must have daytime availability Friday pre-race and/or Monday post-race.
  • Attend Creative Team Meetings bi-weekly from January to March.
  • Attend Creative Team Meetings weekly from April to June.
  • Monitor SOAR email weekly from January to March.
  • Monitor SOAR emails daily from April to June.
  • Must have own car.

Purpose

The Graphic Design Director works with and supports the Creative Team in the planning and creation of all SOAR branded materials.

Responsibilities and Duties

Pre-Race

  • Design graphics for SOAR branded materials including t-shirts, water bottles, etc.
  • Order and coordinate pick up of all marketing materials including t-shirts, water bottles, signage, etc.
  • Design race weekend sponsorship signage.
  • Design / oversee the design of all race materials to ensure consistent branding.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Graphic design experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign or equivalent.

Minimum Expectations or Commitment Requirements

  • Attend Creative team meetings as requested by the Administrative Director.
  • This Director must also master a minimum of 1 challenge and fulfill duties as outlined in the Creative Director job description.
  • Monitor SOAR email weekly from January to March.
  • Monitor SOAR emails daily from April to June.
